Well we had a hot and sticky 24 hrs in Venice the temperature nudging 40c. Fortunately we had a nice hotel 2 train stops from the Grand Canal and it had lovely cooling aircon.
We arrived at lunchtime and had an afternoon getting our bearings and deciding what we wanted to do the next the morning.
So having an early night we were 'on it' the next morning, we were in town before 9 and stepped off the train and went straight on to the Vaperetto (waterbus) for the cruise down the Grand Canal to San Marco.

Once there we climbed the bell tour to get the best views of the city (ok, I lied we got the lift).
Then to round off our morning we had a Gondola ride (well you have to don't you?)
Now off to Austria.....
